A Prayer Poem

Precious Lord, I do not know what plans Thou hast for me.
I cannot see the path two steps ahead,
But resting in Thy might,
I walk in faith, hold tightly to Thy hand, and pray to Thee,
May all my words and thoughts bring praise to Thee, as in Thy sight.

Oh Lord, my strength! How swiftly I would fail my holy God,
And in my weakness turn away
From what Thy will would be;
But praise Thy name, Thou dost not ask that this path must trod
In my own strength and might, but in Thy power and victory!

Oh, my Redeemer! What price was paid that I might live!
Thy blood was shed, Thy side was pierced,
And thorns did grace Thy brow.
Is this for me? Oh, sweet redemption undeserved that Thou dost give,
And in the shadow of the cross, how could I fail Thee now?

My strength and my Redeemer! I don't know a sweeter name;
May my words and thoughts be worthy
And accepted in Thy sight.
For not in my own merit, but through Chrough christ who bore my shame,
I now live to love Thy mercy, trust Thy grace, and praise Thy might.
